BAKR ADDAOU Interview – 11-03-2021

Bakr Addaou – @bakr.add –

1- How do you define yourself? How do you define your projects?

I’m an illustrator who is trying to simulate reality and understand life by seeing it from a criticizing point of view, and I’m trying to master illustration academically in order to break academic rules in my own way.

My projects are defined by simulating what I’m living and presenting it in an artistic standard to share it with the art community and to present it also in an aesthetic way so the big audience will enjoy it also.

2- How did you start working on street art?

I integrated a group of street artists which they were my friends and we look for free walls so we can paint on them, and I didn’t expect that I’ll achieve a lot of audiences and I wasn’t knowing that street art is concretisated field, after one month a street art festival called me to have my first wall.

3- Where do you find the inspiration to create your projects? Are they modifiers of urban space?

I find inspiration in materials, in everything that exists next to me. I try the most to stay open to anything new for me.

4- What does Street Art represent for you in this constantly changing world?

I see that street art is changing constantly too with the changing of the world, and the development of it is linked parallely to the development of the world.

5- Do you think Street Art should be legal or should it continue to be a form of art pursued by the police? Have you ever had problems?

I see that graffiti should continue to be a form of art pursued by the police and it should be also a part from street art.

6- How long does it usually take to prepare each project?

It depends on the type of the project.

Interview conducted by Art Bill – journalist and owner of Street Art In Action.
