Mabel Vicentef Interview – 6- 09-2021

1- How do you define yourself? How do you define your projects?

I’m a street artist, I enjoy working outdoors as I like constant changes, movements and challenges and I  dislike routines, public art always surprises me and keeps me up and inspire.

2- How did you start working on street art?

I started working as scenery  set designer and making sets por theatre, TV, cinema etc. so soon I  I Fell in love with the big sizes, and the idea o creating huge parallel worlds, so after working for this team, one day I decided to  paint a small walls of some friends  and finally one day I painted outside a small store in a town and I realize how magic it was the feedback from people,  how they get involved, I met all this different people’s with different stories which was really inspireful.

3- Where do you find the inspiration to create your projects? Are they modifiers of urban space?

Inspiration comes usually from people, nature and changing routines, trying not to the same thinks always is a good way of getting inspiration, I travel a lot also and I’m a great fan  of going to unknown/ exotic places.

4- What does Street Art represent for you in this constantly changing world?

It’s my way of life , and street art is testimony of all this changes, changes are ones that transform artists as well, it’s almost impossible to not be affected by reality.

5- Do you think Street Art should be legal or should it continue to be a form of art pursued by the police? Have you ever had problems?

I would prefer to be legal, I never had problem, usually I’m involve in legal projects and in my homeland is not complicated to get walls.

6- How long does it usually take to prepare each project?

It depend, but sketches take me very long as I take my time in developing different ideas Isis ally I start with a lot of ideas at the same time and then I stay with one and I do the proper official sketch. Also when you work for a client there’s a second voice opinating so that can take much long.
